Learning Waltz is the fastest way to develops grace and poise on and off the dance floor. No wonder that The Waltz has endured to this day as one of the favorite standard dances of all times. Whether starting a new relationship with the evening’s last dance or celebrating a wedding or anniversary, the Waltz remains the only dance whose romantic side links with life’s happier moments. Try imagining Cinderella at the ball being whisked around the floor by prince charming… |
Waltz music is organized with three beats to each bar of music. What that means is if you were tapping the beat out, after every 3 taps the music would start over whereas all other music we dance to is either 2 taps or 4 taps making waltz unique!
Musically, the first beat in each bar is accentuated or emphasized and it is on this beat that you should start to dance. While the beat is giving a count of 1-2-3, you should be dancing the walk-side-close movements of the Basic Waltz. The tempo of Waltz currently recommended internationally is 30 bars per minute. This means that it takes only two seconds to dance each section of the Waltz, though this is in fact a relatively easy pace which you can really enjoy.
